Michaelle Peters
Multi-discipline artist and designer, Michaelle spends her time between Park City, Utah, Zion National Park and her sailboat in Southern California. Whether hiking, mountain biking or sailing, she is devoted to a lifestyle of perpetual adventure. This is the energy which fuels and informs her art.
Often inspired by water she fondly describes as ‘Waterlust’, her dreamy imagery blends nature, mood, memory and imagination … escapism in the form of art.
Michaelle’s primary medium is encaustic, Greek meaning ‘to burn’. Her paintings are constructed with 10-20 layers of molten beeswax, adding pigment, mark making, collage, texture, or hand-made rusted silk. Each layer, fused with a torch, is an opportunity to conceal or reveal, add or subtract. The challenging process leads to surprising discoveries, ever-changing like the elements of nature.
In addition to painting she has devoted her career to creative endeavors including graphic design, illustration, photography and professional decorative finishing with training in the US and Italy. She is also an Interior Designer specializing in luxury resort and residential properties in Park City/Deer Valley ski areas since 1997.
